Our School at a Glance
Beginning with the 2018–2019 school year, Insight PA Cyber Charter School (ISPA) will serve students statewide in grades K–11. As with all public schools, ISPA is available to Pennsylvania residents. While attending ISPA, you must maintain full-time, Pennsylvania residency.
ISPA offers a comprehensive online program, including a rigorous curriculum, an innovative learning management system, a full suite of academic and support services, a career exploratory course for middle and high school students, and a Destinations Career Program for high school students. Students can learn at home, on the road, or wherever an internet connection can be found. While attendance, teacher interaction, and daily lessons will be conducted online, lessons will use physical materials and offline tools as well.
Certified Teachers, Superior Teaching Tools
All ISPA students will interact with one or more Pennsylvania-certified teachers (depending on grade level) and communicate regularly with their teachers through email, telephone, online synchronized sessions, direct instruction, and regular outings. Teachers will work with students and Learning Coaches (a parent or other responsible adult) in core courses to oversee and assist the students as they work through the year's curriculum.
Each family will receive instructional materials, including a wide array of textbooks, CDs, DVDs, and other hands-on educational materials. These materials will complement the interactive online elements of the student’s courses, ensuring that students receive instruction using the best method for each subject.
Dedicated Teacher Support
In grades K–8, the "Learning Coach" (a parent or other responsible adult) works closely with the teacher to help facilitate the student's progress and to modify the student’s pace and schedule as needed. At the high school level, the Learning Coach will be less involved as students take more responsibility for their own learning and work more often at a collective pace with a class of teacher-led students. In addition, networking opportunities are provided through various events and outings, enabling the entire school community to connect.
ISPA will allow students to learn in the ways that are right for them. The key will be an individualized approach that includes Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) for each child. The ILP focuses on the student’s unique learning strengths, needs, goals, and interests. In addition to providing individualized learning, ISPA will provide the structure, administrative support, oversight, accountability, and state testing required of all Pennsylvania public schools.
